WINE's Joanne Gibson wins!

Published: 28 Apr 09

Joanne Gibson, WINE magazine's deputy editor currently on maternity leave, is the first winner in the Franschhoek Literary Festival's wine writing awards, launched this year. Her winning piece on the George Spies Cabernet Sauvignon, called A Cape Classic, was published in WINE magazine in the April 2008 issue. According to organisers "the entrants were all highly regarded wine journalists and the resultant high standard has certainly ‘set the bar' for the future of this award", adding that the decision to name Gibson as winner was "unanimous". As part of the prize, Gibson will be awarded R25 000.
