WINE contributors win!

Anna Trapido, food writer and regular contributor to WINE magazine, recently received a major award at "the Oscars of cookbooks".

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards, held at the La Comédie Française in Paris, is the biggest and most significant annual cookbook awards.
At the ceremony, Trapido was awarded the Special Jury Award for a book in the classic category. Her winning title, Hunger for Freedom: the story of food in the life of Nelson Mandela (Jacana Media), placed her amongst winners of high regard - other winners included Woody Allen for his book of food criticism called Mere Anarchy.

Not the only South African punching above her weight, local achievers included WINE contributor and food writer Lannice Snyman, who was awarded second place in Best Culinary Travel Guide in the World-category for her book Tortoises and Tumbleweeds (Lannice Snyman).
