Wild thing
Hout Bay residents rejoiced when Wild Woods opened adjacent to the Chapmans Peak Hotel. Chef Pete Goffe-Wood's no-frills venue offers a small menu of nostalgic bistro favourites - nothing too fiddly or strange.
It's all about good value and quality, with ingredients mostly sourced from farmers and artisans. The winelist also favours small-timers. Starters - R40 to R60 - include Caesar salad, mussels or chicken liver parfait with onion marmalade.
Main courses - R60 to R100 - don't disappoint with the likes of pork belly and mash, sirloin Café de Paris with good chips, or grilled fish (sustainable species) with sauce vierge. Chocolate pots or sundaes sweeten it off. Tel 021 791 1166, www.wildwoods.co.za.
