Waterkloof’s new red trio under Circumstance label
Waterkloof’s Circumstance red trio
Waterkloof Wine Estate, outside Somerset West, has just released its 2009 vintage triple act in its Circumstance collection – a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah.
2009 not only brought perfect weather conditions, which ensured grapes with high natural acidity and packed with flavor, but Waterkloof also celebrated the completion of its modern 500ton gravitational cellar with its maiden harvest.
Waterkloof Winemaker Werner Engelbrecht believes that due to the exceptional quality of the 2009 harvest, it is the best vintage he has tasted in years.
Circumstance Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
This rich, smooth succulent red is infused with ripe blackcurrant notes and has all the aromas and spiced flavours typical of this variety.

Circumstance Merlot 2009
The Circumstance Merlot 2009 is a textured wine with soft, fine tannins but with enough backbone to last at least a decade more. With pencil shavings, spice and tobacco flavours on the nose, this Merlot holds a bright acidity with juicy fruit on the palate
Ideal food partners: Braised lamb and venison fillet
Recommended retail price: R140 per bottle
Circumstance Syrah 2009
The Rhône-style Circumstance Syrah 2009 is luscious and has pure floral and herb fragrances, with hints of spice on the nose.

Recommended retail price: R155 per bottle
The Circumstance range is available at the Waterkloof cellar, selected wine outlets and leading fine dining restaurants.
