Victory for vegans

Published: 01 Jul 10

Vegetarians often get the short end of the celery stick and Signal restaurant at Cape Grace is determined to change that. A vegan tasting menu launched early in 2010 has been enthusiastically received.

The winter version kicks off with an inspired beetroot carpaccio topped with veggies, tahini dressing and dukkha-spiced root-vegetable chips.

Five courses (R350pp, or R550 including wine pairings) finish with chocolate caramel tart, cranberry compote and cranberry-ginger snow. It's surprisingly creative for food free of butter, cream, alcohol and honey. To book call 021 410 7100.
