The World's best restaurant serves its last meal
elBulli, accepted as the world’s best restaurant, headed by the world’s best chef Ferran Adrià, served its last 50-course meal on Saturday 30 July. Situated in a cove in Spain, this Michelin three-star restaurant came to represent heaven-on-earth for many gastronomes who underwent, or who dreamt of, a pilgrimage to savour the deconstructed dishes as prepared by Adrià.
Its popularity has been astronomical: the 50-seater restaurant, which was usually open for only six months a year, had to deal with more than a.million reservation requests annually. According to reports, elBulli will open in a different format in 2014 and talks are of a foundation (elBulliFoundation) that will.grant 20 to 25 scholarships to chefs annually to work with elBulli’s core staff on new.creations, which will be posted online. “elBulli will be opening again, just not for reservations,” the 49-year-old Adrià told the foreign press. www.elbulli.com
