The Healing Power of Champagne

Published: 03 Jan 11

JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED

According to authors Dr Tran Ky and Dr Francois Drouard, Noah survived the flood, planted the vine and then got rather tipsy. Over the years many of us have jubilantly followed his example – apparently for good reason. The Healing Power of Champagne takes a close look at the properties of Champagne and the effects it has on our body and health. But, if the title has you conjuring up a remarkable number of excuses for overindulgent drinking, then this is not quite your, well, glass of Champagne. Dr Ky, a specialist in urology, and Dr Drouard, a professor of digestive surgery (who is in fact the son of a winemaker), prescribe dismally small doses of bubbles to cure anything from gynaecological troubles to indigestion.

Available from leading bookstores for R220.
