Chef Jean-Marc Flaschner was trained by Gauteng culinary legend Ciro Molinara. Now he has set out on his own in a charmingly ramshackle, converted shed of a country restaurant. Tables spill out from the drab but cosy interior onto a veranda with an idyllic view of rural Magaliesburg. The food is characterised by hearty, wholesome, eclectic opulence. Tempura prawns arrive at your table piping hot and crisp. Creamy roast chicken pasta is aromatic with nutmeg and molten, bubbling cheese. Pork chops, with a Parmesan crust, are redolent with sage. The eatery provides a lovely day in the country for stressed city folk from which you will return home happy and well fed, and with a sense of having got away from it all.
