Hidden behind a nondescript door in a nowheresville street, this restaurant serves out-of-this-world food. A family affair, with host Nigel Davids the son of Tripoli- and Beirut-raised David and Marlene Davids. Starters are best enjoyed as a share-share, eat with your hands scenario – freshly whizzed babaghannous (grilled aubergine, yoghurt, sesame purée) is scooped up with piping-hot pita triangles. Lemon-drizzled cauliflower florets are worth fighting over, and the mains are glorious love songs to olive oil, lemon juice and pomegranates. The kifta lamb baked in pomegranate sauce is marvellous, and vegetarians are spoilt for choice – the falafel are light with a deliciously crumby crust. The foul’madammas are a creamy, crunchy, lemony, chickpea-based dream, and Nigel’s baklava with rose water and mint tea is a must.
