The brandy and charcuterie tasting

Published: 18 Mar 11

BRANDY MEETS CHARCUTERIE

Until recently, brandy pairings at Van Ryn’s Distillery near Stellenbosch focused on coffee or desserts, but to show just how versatile brandy can be, the distillery has extended its range of options to include pairings with savoury flavours.

Five-Year-Old Van Ryn’s brandy is served
with Italian salami, the 10-Year-Old
Vintage is matched by the smokiness of
Parma ham, while the 15-Year-Old Fine
Cask Reserve is partnered with gently
flavoured coppa.

The brandy and charcuterie tasting, at R60, features three brandies produced at the distillery – a five-, 10- and 15-year-old, matched with a selection of local artisanal cured meats from La Masseria, also in Stellenbosch. Brandy and charcuterie tastings are available from Monday to Friday from 08:30 until 16:30, and on Saturdays from 09:00 until 13:30. For more information, visit www.vanryn.co.za or call 021 881 3875.
