The Big Easy uncorked

Published: 14 Jul 08

Golfer and winery co-owner Ernie Els is opening The Big Easy, his first wine bar, in Stellenbosch's Dorp Street in August - with more to follow around the world.

The former La Gratitude manor house will offer Ernie Els, Rust en Vrede and other wines by the glass and bottle from a stylish central barista area. À la carte dishes can be ordered in various rooms, while tapas will suit casual patio tables flowing on to the pavement. Earthy colours and oversized furnishings will complement Cape Dutch architecture with original yellowwood ceilings.

For more information, call 021 881 3881.
