Stellenbosch food destinations

Jardine at Jordan and others

Could Stellenbosch become the new winelands food destination of choice? Delaire Graff started the ball rolling, appealing to tourists with gourmet tastes (tel 021 885 8160).

Then Christophe Dehosse opened elegant dining spot Christophe's at the Skuinshuis in central Stellenbosch (tel 084 362 3119).

And now there's The Restaurant at Jordan (tel 021 881 3441), a tasty collaboration on Jordan farm between Scottish chef George Jardine (and wife Louise) with winemakers Gary and Kathy Jordan. Having left head chef Eric Bulpitt to run his eponymous restaurant in Bree Street, Jardine is now cooking simpler fare over a vine-fired oven and custom grill. Take a patio table for vineyard views and expect family-friendly lunchtimes. Tasting menu dinners take place on Thursdays and Fridays with wines focusing on Stellenbosch, plus older and CWG Jordan vintages.
