Sprigs Restaurant

Published: 01 Nov 03

Sprigs Restaurant

Trained by Christina Martin with experience gained at Turner's in Chelsea, London, this confident duo have had huge success with their cosmopolitan "pay by weight" buffet.

To start the day, choose an English breakfast, the omelette of the day with avocado, brie and basil or smoked trout with scrambled egg on health bread with rocket and a chilli tomato chutney on the side.

The lunch buffet boasts some 10 mouth-wateringly displayed dishes, including roasted root vegetables in red wine vinaigrette, green olive and soya dressing on chickpeas, yoghurt and tahini baked potato wedges and vegetable lasagne with coriander pesto. Though the focus is on vegetarian dishes, the meat dishes are excellent too. The Moroccan lamb, flavoured with olives, onions and tomatoes, is tender and outstanding.

Cakes and tarts are tantalising too, served with perfect Lavazza coffee. Wine is available by the glass, but it's limited to a red blend and a Chenin Blanc.

Sprigs also offers a take-away and catering service.
