South Africa bigger than France in UK

Published: 01 Apr 10

Wines of South Africa has announced that South African wine sales have overtaken those of France for the first time in the UK wine market.

This is according to the latest figures from market analysts AC Nielsen. According to the statement issued by WOSA, SA wine sales grew by 20% in comparison to French wine sales, which declined by 12%, making SA the fourth largest selling country for wine in the UK.

SA is now only behind Italy, Australia and the US in terms of market share.
