Simonsvlei launches new wine range
Simonsvlei International launched their new South Atlantic range of premium wines this week during a sunset cruise on board the super yacht Nautilus. Prominent trade representatives, wine and lifestyle media and members of the Simonsvlei board attended the event hosted in perfect weather conditions.
Winemakers Ryan Puttick and Christine Jones introduced the guests to the South Atlantic range, which consists of a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon blend, each paired with canapés such as wild mushroom palmiers with whipped brie, Asian duck pancakes with plum sauce and figs with springbok carpaccio.
According to managing director of Simonsvlei International Leonard van den Berg, the introduction of this highly individualistic range was influenced by current market trends. “We identified a niche in this specific price class in the highly competitive local wine market and saw great potential growth opportunities for an exclusive product range. By identifying specific vineyards from our more than 45 producing shareholders, we could tailor-make wines that each showcases the unique characteristics of its terroir and varietal,” mentions Van den Berg.
The South Atlantic range is available from leading supermarkets and liquor stores countrywide. Cellar door prices start from R75 for the whites, R80 for the red blend and R85 for the Shiraz.
