Bon Courage winner of best wine on show

Champion wine at this year’s SA Young Wine Show and winner of the coveted General Smuts Trophy is a Shiraz from Bon Courage in Robertson. The product of father-and-son team, André and Jacques Bruwer, it was first voted the best Shiraz on show before being judged as best overall of the 2 232 young wines entered for this year’s competition.

The results were announced on Saturday, 23 August at a gala dinner hosted by the South African National Wine Show Association (SANW), Oranje-Vaal Wine Show Association and Agri-Expo in Upington.

This year’s competition marked the fifty-second year of young wine judging in the Cape with 19 trophies being awarded. A condition of entry is that all wines should be from the 2003 vintage.
