At 13 802 hectares, plantings cover an area east of Worcester between the Langeberg and Riviersonderend mountain ranges, south-west of Montagu and the Klein Karoo – mostly along the Breede river and its tributaries – with wards in the district including Agterkliphoogte, Boesmansrivier, Bonnievale, Eilandia, Hoopsrivier, Klaasvoogds, Le Chasseur, McGregor and Vinkrivier.

From Worcester, travelling along the R60 to Robertson, you pass the turn-off to Bon Cap Organic Winery before arriving at Rooiberg on your left and then bubbly specialist Graham Beck on your right.

Continuing eastward through the town, the R60 leads past Arabella to Ashton and the cellars of Zandvliet and Excelsior.

Otherwise, from the town of Robertson you can head south to McGregor, or south-east along the R317 where you’ll encounter some 20 wineries en route to Bonnievale. Major’s Hill as well as Springfield and Bon Courage (two of Robertson’s very best cellars) precede Viljoensdrift where you can combine wine tasting with a river cruise, Van Loveren and Chardonnay specialist De Wetshof. South of De Wetshof the road splits to flank a number of cellars including Goedverwacht, Quando, Mooiuitsig, Jonkheer and Weltevrede.

Van Zylshof, Nordale and Merwespont are in the eastern extremities of the district.
What’s more, Robertson is also home to the Klipdrift brandy cellar…
