Reflections on Bouchard Finlayson

Published: 10 Mar 10

Vicki Tollman, owner of Bouchard Finlayson Wines and winemaker Peter Finlayson have introduced their latest offering, the Bouchard Finlayson Sauvignon Blanc Reserve - crisp, fresh and with a rich minerality. The latest vintages of Bouchard Finlayson include Kaaimansgat Chardonnay from a vineyard in the Villiersdorp mountains showing citrus and butterscotch and vanilla flavours as a result of barrel fermentation in French Oak. A preview to the 2009 Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir is an intriguing integration of ‘fruits of the forest' with firm tannin structure. Peter Finlayson's practices are influenced by Burgundian principles, and the semi-Mediterranean climate makes the area ideal for Pinot Noir. The Bouchard Finlayson Hannibal is a red blend of Sangiovese, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo, Mourvedre, Barbera and Shiraz, revealing delicate truffle notes, spice and red cherry. The new wine cellar is situated at the basement of the Bouchard Finlayson Homestead and will be used for special events, tastings and launches of new wines. Situated in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, the winery is open on Monday to Friday from 09h30 to 17h00, Saturdays from 09h30 to 12h30. Tel 028 312 3515, info@bouchardfinlayson.co.za.
