SKYY vodka cocktail recipes to complement Asian-inspired dishes

The people from SKYY vodka recommend pairing the brand with Asian-inspired dishes or "fusion sushi".

Some ideas:

Instead of the normal green olive try the SKYYtini with wasabi stuffed olives and pair it with a salmon skin roll.

Try a Vanilla Espresso SKYYtini with a seared linefish roll or avocado maki. The richness of bourbon-flavored vanilla beans subtly complements the spicy flavour of the five spices used to sear off the linefish, while the texture and flavour of the avocado will not overpower.

The citrus flavours in the SKYY range are especially well-suited for sushi pairings. Combine the exotic juiciness of a Mandarin SKYYpirovska with salmon maki, which will emphasise the flavour of the mandarin, while balancing out the sweetness. The spice profile of a spicy salmon or tuna roll will offset the zestiness of ginger, coriander and pineapple in a Citrus Spice cocktail.

For the ultimate palate seduction, try the Berry SKYY Collins with a vegetable tempura roll or a tofu and tatsoi roll. The vegetables and soybean flavour from the tofu will enhance the tartness of the berries and set the platform for a taste explosion.

The purest expression of SKYY 90 provides a fitting grand finale when poured as a Bloody 90 and paired with spicy tuna tempura roll. The crisp, clean finish of SKYY90 holds its own against the dominant tuna flavour for a sophisticated elegance.

Not in the mood to make it yourself? Try these and other variations at Geisha Wok & Noodle Bar in Green Point Cape Town.

" All these sound fabulous - an exciting improvement on 'traditional' cocktails which I enjoyed from the eighties! Will concoct them for my friends. Thanx. "
