Cape fine dining venues are feeling it. Since Riboville and The Showroom closed their doors, the latter restaurant's chefs Bruce Robertson and Simoné Rossouw are focused on their value-orientated The Showroom Café (Tel 021 421 1000) in Long Street.
Keep warm with winter specials at Harbour House, Kalk Bay.
Naturally Robertson has more up his sleeve... Recession dining is in. During winter specials at Kalk Bay's Harbour House (Tel 021 788 4133) until October, pay R130 (for two), R150 for three courses (including a seafood course) at lunch or dinner daily except Sundays. Camps Bay's The Roundhouse offers sophisticated dinners, with cheaper Rumbullion comfort food such as braised oxtail moving indoors during winter lunchtimes. Tel 021 438 4347.
