Feeling the effects of a long winter? French Toast in Cape Town’s Bree Street is offering a lunch deal with pocket-friendly appeal. Every day between 12:00 and 16:00, lunch at R89 per person includes a hearty soup de jour plus a choice of two savoury tapas dishes. Options include aubergine fries, mushroom and thyme bruschetta, chicken empanadas, goat’s-milk cheese and tomato tart, and grilled linefish or pork fillet with mustard sauce. Included in the price is a glass of wine or coffee. If time allows, consider sticking around and sampling from the wine list featuring South African labels alongside a few from France, Germany and Italy.
