Picnics in the pink

Warwick has taken Stellenbosch picnics to new heights, with Parisian café tables and chairs, cushions on lawns, or deck-side tables adjacent to the colourful tasting room.

 

Our favourite option is reed picnic "pods'' around a table on the dam that cosily squeeze in eight (reserve in advance).

With input from the family's cordon bleu lovelies, plus flamboyant consulting chef Bruce Robertson adding playful ideas, picnic boxes of tricks on pink tablecloths are cleverly yummy at R299 for two. Catering utensils are compostable.

Vegetarian picnics on request, kids' boxes at R49 each (jungle gyms nearby). Request a worthwhile R25 wine tasting so informed staff can drop by with latest vintages at respectful intervals. Tel 021 884 441, www.warwickwine.com.
