Old Vines launches new range

10% of all net profits to female empowerment

In a move away from its former focus on Chenin Blanc, Old Vines wine cellars launched a new range of wines under the Spring Valley label.

Old Vines is the only winery in South Africa that is owned and controlled by women. Started by Cape Wine Master Irina von Holdt and her daughter, Francoise Botha, Old Vines quickly made its mark by launching its Blue White Chenin Blanc in a distinctive blue bottle.

“The commitment to women’s empowerment is very real at Old Vines,” says Botha. “Apart from one man, our 24-strong team is made up entirely of women, mostly from previously disadvantaged communities.”

With the launch of Spring Valley in South Africa, Old Vines will be committing 10% of all net profits to an empowerment fund.

The Spring Valley range comprises a Chenin Blanc/Sauvignon Blanc blend; a dry Rosé from Pinotage and a Shiraz/Merlot blend.

All wines retail for around R25 a bottle.
