New and improved

Published: 02 Sep 02

The story of Simonsrood is the story of winemaking at Simonsvlei cellar. The wine pays homage to Sarel Rossouw the first winemaker and manager at the cellar in 1947 who, for over 34 years, guided winemaking at Simonsvlei, winning many awards and accolades.

Previously incorporated in Simonsvlei's Mount Marble range, Simonsrood has become a well-known and popular brand. Owing to the wine's popularity Simonsvlei decided the time was right to launch the wine with its own identity, and the new Simonsrood boasts a brand new look and a new blend.

Simonsrood is an unwooded blend of Shiraz, Ruby Cabernet, Pinotage and Cinsaut. This well-rounded easy drinking wine can be enjoyed with a hearty steak, roast chicken, pasta, pizza or simply sipped on its own. The price for Simonsrood remains unchanged at less than R20 a bottle.
