Madécasse chocolate

Published: 23 Mar 11

CHOCOLATE FOR AFRICA

Most of the world’s cocoa originates from Africa, yet just 1% of the world’s chocolate gets made here. So, the team at Madécasse, inspired by their Peace Corps experiences in Madagascar, are on a mission to change this dismal statistic by providing cacao farmers in Madagascar with equipment and training to produce quality chocolate.

We love the sea salt and nibs – cocoa nibs are added to give the chocolate a delicious crunch and a light dusting of salt enhances the cocoa flavour. Also included in the range is a delicious 80% cocoa bar. Available at Vrede en Lust on the Simondium-Klapmuts Road, near Franschhoek, for R45 per 75g bar. Go to www.madecasse.com to order direct.
