High Timber, London
Making a Splash on the Thames
High Timber is winemaking couple Gary and Kathy Jordan's London restaurant venture on the River Thames, the focus being top-end meats. In partnership with South African restaurateur Neleen Strauss (veteran of Jozi's Browns of Rivonia and co-founder of London's Vivat Bacchus), it takes its name from a former timber offloading site near St Paul's cathedral. The restaurant and bar form the street level of new apartments. Below ground there is private dining and a walk-in cellar of 40 000 bottles comprising South African and international wines. Jordan Wines will also open The Chameleon restaurant on their Stellenbosch farm in spring 2009.
