Lazy Lunches and Decadent Dinners

Published: 03 Jan 11

SEXY SIMPLICITY

If you have read Decadent and Sumptuous by Marlene van der Westhuizen, you will be pleased to know the talented chef, who spends much of her time in France, has again declared her love for brasserie luxe in her new compact books Lazy Lunches and Decadent Dinners. Brasserie luxe, meaning simplistic food made with quality products, allows Marlene to create minimal-fuss dishes that are masterfully infused with great flavour. The theme of family, friends and lunches under the pomegranate trees is carried through Lazy Lunches, until the winter chapters when it is time to move closer to the fireplace. Decadent Dinners recipes range from light vegetable and fish dishes to gorgeous lamb shank and deeply authentic coq au vin. The books make the French culinary arts accessible to South African cooks while beautifully capturing the essence of, well, nothing more than lazy lunches and decadent dinners.

Both books are available from leading bookstores for R117 each.
