Just released
The latest vintage of the flagship red wine of Delheim, Grand Reserve, has just been released – a 1999 – along with their Chardonnay sur lie 2001, Chardonnay 2001, Sauvignon Blanc 2002 and a Gewurztraminer 2002.
The Simonsberg farm’s ever-popular Pinotage Rosé 2002 was released in May.
As always the Grand Reserve is their best Cabernet Sauvignon – in this case a block of 15-year-old bushvines – which spent 15 months in small French oak barrels before bottling.
Delheim have also announced that winemaker Conrad Vlok has departed after just one harvest.
Nora Thiel said Delheim were sad to lose him but understood that his new position as production manager for Baarsma International’s South African wines was a new challenge for him. Vlok leaves at the end of August.
