Hotel Izulu and Thelema host famous Wine Market

Published: 21 Feb 12

Durbanites, this one is for you. We know that you are not always spoilt for choice when it comes to wine events, so we are sure you will enjoy this.

Head down to the Hotel Izulu in Ballito this weekend on Sunday, 26 February, for their famous Wine Market, in partnership with Thelema Mountain Vineyards from Stellenbosch. From 12:00 onwards  guests can enjoy a day of food and wine pairing while being entertained by the live band ‘Afritude’.

Guests have a choice between the following food and wine pairing options:

  • Seared Norwegian salmon served with salsa verde paired with Thelema Sutherland Sauvignon Blanc
  • Pan fried prawns served with lemon buerre blanc paired with Thelema Sutherland Chardonnay
  • Roasted pepper and buffalo mozzarella roulade paired with Thelema Sutherland Pinot Noir

Further options include ostrich fillet flambéed in a brandy cream reduction paired with Thelema Mountain Red and mini Yorkshire puddings filled with seared beef fillet finished with horseradish crème fraîche paired with Thelema Cabernet Sauvignon.

Kid’s selection includes burgers, hot dogs and ice cream cones.

If for some reason you are more of a picnic person, Hotel Izulu recently opened a Deli, which offers soup, cheese platters, breads biscuits and thier now famous fudge.

If you fall in love with a (or all) wine on the day, never fear. All of the wines are available for purchase at a special reduced price. Wine chillers are also available to purchase at R79

Entrance to the Wine Market is R150 per person.
