Haute Cabrière goes big

Published: 14 Jul 08

Lovers of Pinot Noir will be interested to learn of the Haute Cabrière Special Cuvée Pinot Noir from Franschhoek winery Cabrière.

“It comes from our prime vineyard called Claude de Pierre,” reveals proprietor and winemaker Achim von Arnim. “The vineyard is at altitude with a higher percentage of stone, which offers a wine that is more refined and elegant.”

The wine is bottled only in magnum bottles, with a paltry 500 per vintage produced. The artwork for the label was painted by Von Arnim and all proceeds will go to the Hospice Franschhoek. The current vintage 2002 (only the second ever made) is available at fine wine retailers and from the cellar for R300 per magnum.
