Hall to leave Kanu
Cellarmaster Teddy Hall goes on his own.
Teddy Hall, winemaker at top Stellenbosch winery Kanu since 1998, has resigned to produce wines fulltime under his own label, Rudera.
Hall leaves with Kanu’s 2003 vintage successfully completed. Hydro Holdings, the company which also owns the acclaimed Mulderbosch cellar in Stellenbosch, have announced that as a transitionary measure Mulderbosch’s winemaker Mike Dobrovic will run the Kanu cellar, assisted by Johan Grimbeek and Adelé Swart, who have both been with the cellar for some time already.
During Hall’s tenure as cellarmaster at Kanu, he amassed a number of accolades. In particular, he won the WINE magazine Chenin Blanc Challenge twice, the Kanu Limited Release Wooded 1999 winning in 2001 and the 2000 vintage of the same wine taking joint honours with De Trafford Keermont in 2002.
