Asian glamour is offered by way of Chinese wooden screens, accented by pulsating, sometimes overly loud music and four inter-linked, hyper bustling kitchens. The menu has a huge variety of steamed, fried or raw dim sum, wok, sushi and sashimi, teppanyaki and robata grills. You can’t beat the subtle mushroom har gau or prawn sui mai dim sum, with delicious dipping sauces. Shitake and velvety fillet robata with mustard cream will make you abandon decorum to get at every drop of sauce, and the Peking duck is fit for an emperor. Desserts are less impressive than the mains – refreshing pandan leaf ice-cream rescues an overly dry chocolate cake. A deep-fried pastry tower cemented with chocolate mousse is oily and unpleasant. Some find the minimum spend and the two sittings coercive – those at the early sitting feel rushed and those at the later sitting hang around in the bar waiting for their turn (which always comes late).
