Glen Carlou excels
Paarl farm picks up brace of medals at International Wine Challenge
Glen Carlou is proud of the consistently good track record it’s achieved over the years – in the face of the annual deluge of “one wine wonders”.
Once again Glen Carlou’s Shiraz has won a gold medal at the International Wine Challenge in the United Kingdom. The success of the 2002 Shiraz follows that of the 2001, which won gold at the same competition last year. The 2002 vintage also received a 4 Star rating in the May 2003 issue of local WINE magazine.
Many wine lovers consider Glen Carlou’s Chardonnay its flagship wine – and with justification: the Chardonnay Reserve 2001 won silver this year after getting gold for the 2000 last year.
Winemaker David Finlayson believes the results show that meticulous attention to detail in both the vineyards and cellar has borne fruit.
“Although we by no means feel that we are at the pinnacle of our success, after three successive award-winning vintages, we believe we’ve proven that Glen Carlou can and will produce world class Shiraz.”
