Franschhoek Uncorked Festival 3-5 September

Just as Capetonians were just getting used to the idea of winter, spring bloomed before our awe-inspired eyes. At the Wine team, we know that there are few better ways to spend a fresh spring day (or 3) than at an adventure filled wine event in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley. Franschhoek wineries in and around the scenic valley welcome the fresh, new season, using the opportunity to showcase their exciting new vintages and releases, and putting on a string of special events for visitors at this year’s Franschhoek Uncorked Festival.

So, what can guests expect? With most of the Franschhoek wineries participating in this fun festival there promises to be something for everyone, including cellar and vineyard tours, barrel tastings, food and wine pairings, art exhibitions, a fresh food market as well as a micro-brewery tasting, to name but a few. Music fans can expect to be kept entertained with a variety of live shows, ranging from talented jazz musicians and blues bands to French inspired music, with local musicians providing the ‘local is lekker’ flavour. Car enthusiasts will be thrilled with a rare exhibition of über-luxury cars, which include the ultimate marques of Aston Martin, Porsche, Maserati and Ferrari.

This year’s newly introduced Uncorked Access Card ensures the card holder a tasting glass and free wine tasting at the participating wineries for the duration of the event. To allow for easy, hassle-free transport, pre-booked private shuttle services will be available to the public. Before making your way home for the evening be sure to stop off at the evening event hosted by the organisers at Holden Manz Wine Estate.
