Eastern addition in Rosebank

Published: 01 Dec 10

Rosebank has emerged from a long-awaited facelift and the new extension of The Zone shopping centre boasts some designer stores as well as a range of restaurants and coffee shops. Among the new additions is a light, airy square surrounded by restaurants, including the newly opened Koi. Already a landmark in Sandton’s financial district, Koi’s shop in Rosebank is a delight for Asian food fanatics who don’t want to battle the traffic up north.

The décor of the new store is stylish with hues of purple, pink, silver and lime enhanced by beautiful sea inspired artwork. The menu has a strong sushi influence but also offers tantalising dim sum options as well an interesting selection of Asian inspired dishes – try the tempura soft-shell crab with wasabi mayonnaise, crispy calamari with hoisin sauce, coriander and lime or their fantastic crispy Peking duck. The menu is definitely geared towards seafood but there are plenty of other options for meat lovers. Koi’s wine list is impressive; care has been taken to include wines that are Asian food friendly as well as a comprehensive selection of premium white and red wines from an interesting variety of producers.
