Drink red wine for strong bones
Red wine contributes to stronger bone health in older men. This is according to an Australian study published by the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, reports Wine Spectator. According to the report, the study found links between improved bone mineral density (BMD) and red wine consumption in men aged 50 to 80. The study followed nearly 900 men and women over a two-year period, during which the participants were asked to record their drinking habits and types of alcoholic beverages consumed. Analysing the data, researchers found that while red wine can prevent bone density loss in men the same conclusions couldn’t be drawn for female counterparts. Results instead suggested that women might enjoy similar benefits from consuming low-alcohol beer.
