WHY? Because this scenic wine estate with its rolling lawns is visited in droves during its annual Pinotage-on-Tap party and is thus not surprisingly also perfectly geared up for weddings; functions in the garden with its gorgeous mountain and farmland backdrop can accommodate up to 200 guests, while the banqueting venue seats a comfortable 80 if a dance floor is included. With on site accommodation among the vineyards or overlooking the gardens, they recommend that couples and their parties "own the venue for a while"; the wedding package does in fact include the cost of a minimum of 10 rooms (the happy couple's stay is gratis).
Diemersfontein's chef will tailor-make a menu to suit your tastes, whether it's a formal sit down dinner under the stars or a garden brunch or lunch (the latter two for weekday and Friday weddings only). Outside caterers are only allowed under "exceptional circumstances", and only Diemersfontein wines (offered at special prices) are allowed, with the exception of bubbly for which a corkage fee is charged.

WE THINK.... the magical garden allows for the perfect marquee setting - a country venue off the beaten track. For horse riding fans, include a guided ride in the vineyards for your guests.
