Dash Restaurant and Bar
Dashing hillside views
The 36-seater Dash Restaurant and Bar is the signature eatery of the Queen Victoria small luxury hotel, a new 35-roomed establishment overlooking the V&A Waterfront. Situated on an embankment in the Portswood district opposite the V&A Hotel, the Queen Victoria hotel’s Georgian design has been elegantly remodelled. The restaurant is named after Victoria’s favourite King Charles Spaniel. Dash leads off from the hotel’s triple-volume atrium area, flowing outdoors on the Table Mountain end to a terrace with magnificent views. The dramatically elegant interior features a bar in dark oak and oversized mirrors. A double-sided fireplace in Nero Marquese marble separates the lounge and bar from the dining area where Gregor Jenkins tables complement black leather dining chairs. Executive chef Stephen Templeton gives a contemporary slant to seasonal ingredients with a local focus. Quirky touch: diners can order Queen Victoria mature cheddar from artisanal Gay’s Dairy cheesery in Prince Albert. Portswood district, opposite the V&A Hotel, Cape Town; tel 021 427 5950
