Cuvée and Crystal

Published: 01 Jan 09

The Malan family behind Kaapse Vonkel now has a stylish venue to sip it in.

Stellenbosch estate Simonsig’s new restaurant, Cuvée, has food artist Jacques Erasmus and Neil Stemmet (ex Upington restaurant Le Must) as consultants, so expect crystal chandeliers and simple food with flair by chef Shanel Gildenhuys. There’s French Huguenot tweaking in signature steak café de cuvée, chicken fillets roasted in vine leaves or Malva pud with a twist. “Come for breakfast or lunch in flip flops and jeans or an Armani suit,” says Erasmus. Tel 021 888 4932.
