Classic Wine Trophy 2005
The Classic Wine Trophy competition, now in its eighth year, is convened by Jean-Vincent Ridon of the Signal Hill winery in Cape Town and sees wines being judged according to a French aesthetic. For the next five years it will have the Santé Winelands Hotel and Wellness Centre in Paarl as a co-sponsor.
The competition sees ten gold medals awarded for red wines, five for white wines, one for the best sparkling and one for the best sweet wine. Trophies awarded are for the Best Red Wine, the Best White Wine and the Jury prize for Consistency and Quality. Results of the 2005 competition were announced recently:
