Cabernet Sauvignon Tasting – April 2009

Published: 19 Mar 09

The WINE magazine panel recently reviewed a line-up of 137 wines spanning the 2005, 2006 and 2007 vintages and was generally impressed. “But”, notes WINE editor Christian Eedes, “if the predominant failing a decade ago was that Cabernet Sauvignon showed under-ripe characteristics, now there is definitely a more of a tendency to pick later”.

" Interesting video clip - but big surprise is that this 'serious' tasting' was conducted using the dinky little old-fashioned "international' wine glasses... No serious wine should not be given the benefit of a decent wine glass... that's perhaps why you didn't find any 5 star wines.... A 5 star wine would simply be too big for that little glass...
Even cellar doors around the world are using 'Reidel' style glasses (not necessarily the real thing) to show their wines to their best advantage... Time to move on guys and gals... "
