Brasserie Mirabelle, in Sunninghill

Published: 30 May 11

Brasserie Mirabelle

Brasserie Mirabelle recently opened in Sunninghill, Johannesburg. The owner, Bruno Beurel, is a passionate food- and wine-lover, which is reflected in the excellent wine list and menu. He’s originally from Alsace, so dishes such as the mouth-watering traditional tart flambé – a delicious combination of crème fraiche, onion and bacon on a thin dough base – alongside more conventional Mediterranean dishes feature on the menu. If the food is not reason enough to visit Brasserie Mirabelle, the wine list will be. It includes a good selection of varieties, large, well-known labels as well as smaller producers and a selection of international wines. The big drawcard, however, is that 85% on the wines are available by the glass, including some of the French examples. For those diners looking for a little entertainment during or after their meal, Brasserie Mirabelle offers live music as well as a DJ every Friday night.
