Who doesn’t love gold and diamonds? At the recent launch of Bottega Gold & Black Diamond Prosecco sparkling wines in South Africa, it was simply stated, “packaging and products to die for darling!”.

Although Distilleria Bottega have a range of exciting products available in South Africa, the two most recent and exciting products released are the Gold & Black Diamond Prosecco sparkling wines.

Bottega Gold guarantees elegant fragrances of apple and pear and has a slight floral nose. Packaging that tends to create an emotional effect makes it a really prestigious present. It not only looks exquisite, the gilding of the bottle serves to protect the wine from light, keeping it unchanged for over twelve months. This classic sparkling Prosecco wine has a vibrant light golden colour, fine perlage, and an elegant bouquet. Its freshness and great aroma make it an excellent aperitif that goes well with several dishes, including pasta, poultry, vegetables, shellfish and seafood.

Bottega Black Diamond is a Pinot Noir produced through the “long” Charmat method with a selection of Pinot Noir grapes from Oltrepò Pavese (Lombardia, Italy). It is produced in a bottle encrusted with crystal diamonds that reproduce the Bottega logo and seems perfect for ‘that special occasion’. This Pinot Noir sparkling wine has a very persistent aftertaste. It is also perfect as an aperitif and is well paired with meat and vegetable stews, chicken, curries or dishes with cheese or peri peri flavours.

One of the most moving moments of the night was the handing over of a precious hand-blown bottle to the Scalabrini Center charity. It’s a unique piece that was made by the Alexander blown-glass factory, which is owned by Distilleria Bottega. The bottle, an impressive collector’s item, contains 7 liters of grappa from Veneto. Its signature feature is a glass blown dove of peace inside the bottle. It is a symbolic subject that has been specifically thought out for South Africa, to celebrate our unity as a people. Scalabrini Centre is committed to alleviating poverty and promoting development in the Western Cape while fostering integration between migrants, refugees and South Africans. The bottle will be auctioned at a later date and the proceeds will go to the Scalabrini Center.

Bottega and Alexander produce are distributed through restaurants, hotels, delicatessens and retail stores nationally around South Africa such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Spar & Tops, Makro, Woolworths, Picardi, Aroma, Midmar and selected retail outlets.
