2010 Wine Judging Academy

Published: 17 Sep 09

Applications are invited for the 2010 Wine Judging Academy.

Interested parties are invited to make application to attend the fourth annual Wine Judging Academy run by WINE magazine in conjunction with leading wine critic Michael Fridjhon, with a key objective being to increase the number of competent judges at work in the industry.

The course will be held from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 January 2010 at the UCT Graduate School of Business, Breakwater Campus, Cape Town. Only 20 participants will be accepted, with places being awarded on merit as determined by the organisers. The full cost of the three-day academy, including tuition, tasting samples of top local and international wines as well as accommodation and meals, has been set at R4 350 plus VAT.

Vinifera (Pty) Ltd, the company which manages the Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, is underwriting the difference between the actual cost of these arrangements and the participants' contributions. It is also offering full and part bursaries to participants unable to meet the cost of the programme. Should you deem yourself worthy of a bursary, you are requested to supply a motivation in your application.

Included in your application should be details of your current profession, wine experience to date and why you believe you deserve a place. Send this via an email with "Wine Tasting Academy 2010" in the subject line to christian@ramsaymedia.co.za. The closing date for applications is Friday 27 November 2009. For further information, call 021 530 3287.
