    the Mon Vieux Hell’s Heights Sauvignon blanc was awarded Classic wine trophy.

      Thanks, Marinda. Duly corrected – I was shown the Semillon by the organisers the day before and hence the confusion.

    I had to look up “Mon Vieux Semillon 2014″. Is it the same as the Boutinot Mon Vieux Acquifier Semillon? If so, I take it the wine is also, like the 2013, made from Swartland grapes. It’s not every day that you see a varietal Semillon from the Swartland. Interesting…

      It is indeed from the Boutinot Mon Vieux Aquifer Semillon (wine now listed with full designation above) with grapes sourced a Swartland vineyard planted in 1966. My notes and score for the 2014: Lime and white peach plus vanilla. Some oxidative character. Rich and full with tangy acidity – rustic but definitely has interest. Score: 88/100.
